AlHosn App: A Must for All UAE Residents

According to the latest restrictions enacted by the government, all UAE residents must now provide documentation of having gotten two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in order to access certain areas of pubs and clubs, as well as attend concerts and athletic events.

The Al Hosn app is the best way for citizens to show their immunization status, according to authorities, however, electronic copies of vaccine certificates will suffice. Paper copies, on the other hand, will not be recognized.

A Basic Guide on Everything You Need to Know About the AlHosn App

The Al Hosn app, which is displayed by cars entering into Abu Dhabi from Dubai, was originally designed to track and trace interactions with Covid-19 cases, but its reach has since expanded to assist the country’s statewide immunization program, according to the National.

What is the Al Hosn App?

The Ministry of Health and Prevention developed the app, which serves as the official Covid-19 contact tracing and health testing record for UAE health authorities.

What Does the AlHosn App Do?

AlHosn enables countrywide touch tracking, allowing authorities to quickly halt the distribution of Covid-19.

If you come into close contact with someone who has tested positive while monitoring is turned on, the authorities will notify you to self-isolate.

The app also maintains track of all your Covid-19 test scores, so you know to stay at home if you obtain a favorable result.

The app also keeps track of your Covid-19 vaccine doses, which you can use to demonstrate your immunization status in the UAE.

More crucially, if you travel abroad, you can use the AlHosn app as a vaccine travel certificate.

How do you download it?

The AlHosn app is available for free download from the App Store, Google Play Store, Huawei AppGallery, and Galaxy Store.

Register your details, and the app will give you a validation code (OTP) to your phone number to verify your identity.

To use the app for tracing, you must allow Bluetooth and push notifications on your smartphone.

The app incorporates the features of the StayHome and TraceCovid apps. It also provides users with a high level of privacy protection through artificial intelligence.

When you first install the Al Hosn software, you must have an internet connection.

Since the app has been whitelisted by telecom providers, the data used will not count against your limit.

How does the AlHosn app work?

The app uses Bluetooth technology to record and communicate signals to everyone in the vicinity who has the app installed.

These Bluetooth signals, according to the Al Hosn website, perform a digital handshake and transmit anonymous data and timestamps between devices in close proximity.

Anyone who downloads the app will be given a one-of-a-kind QR code carrying health-related information. The data is encrypted and saved on the user’s phone. The appropriate health authorities will use this information to identify those who can spread the virus and those who are at risk of catching the infection. They will then interact and re-test those who are vulnerable.

No personally-identifying information is obtained throughout the operation.

If a person tests positive for Covid-19, the health authorities will ask for this list of anonymous IDs and timestamps over the past 21 days to help with contact tracing.

The information is subsequently examined by the health authority, and people who may be at risk are alerted.

Why do I need the Al Hosn app?

Expatriate residents returning to the UAE from abroad are required to download the app.

Furthermore, from February 1, everyone flying from Dubai to Abu Dhabi has had to present the Al Hosn app to prove they have recently tested negative for coronavirus.

This means that if you want to enter a bar, club, or event in Dubai, such as a concert or sporting event, you must be able to show proof that you have taken the vaccine.

The Al Hosn app is the most user-friendly way to accomplish this.

Who can use the Al Hosn app?

Everyone in the UAE has access to the Al Hosn app, and authorities encourage everyone to utilize it.

Here’s a video shared by the UAE government regarding the Al Hosn app:

Frequently Asked Questions

I registered, but I have yet to receive the OTP. So, what should I do now?

If you do not immediately receive the OTP, please wait 10 minutes before attempting again. If you have not received the OTP within 10 minutes, there may be a technical issue that will be resolved within a few hours. If you require further assistance, you can contact the technical support team via the app.

I’m a visitor to the UAE. Should I get the app?

Yes. Visitors who have been vaccinated may also use the AlHosn app to demonstrate that they have got the immunizations in their native country.

You can do so by registering the “universal identification number” (UID) on your visa.

If you do not do this, you can still certify your immunization status by showing an electronic certificate on your smartphone.

You’ll need to do this in order to enter Dubai’s bars and nightclubs, as well as participate in activities such as concerts.

Is Al Hosn available in more than one language?

Yes, the app is available in three languages right now: Arabic, English, and Hindi. Other languages may be considered as they become available or as the necessity arises.

Why has my Al Hosn app turned red?

The software uses a color-coded system to rapidly display your health condition.

•        If it turns red, it implies your most recent test was positive, and you should consult your local health authority.

•        The color amber indicates that you should be evaluated or retested for Covid-19 exposure.

•        Green indicates that you’ve been tested and determined to be Covid-19 negative.

•        The color grey indicates that you do not have any recent test results.

What does the E on my Al Hosn app mean?

The letter E means that you had your second dose of Covid-19 vaccination at least 28 days ago and that your PCR test was negative during the last seven days.

This must be present in your app for you to cross the border from Dubai to Abu Dhabi on many occasions in the days following your last negative test.

If you want to keep your E status, you must get a Covid-19 test every week.

How do I know if the app is working?

The simplest way to verify that the app is operational is to keep it running and check or update it on a regular basis. You will be notified if the app stops working for any reason.

Do I need to keep the app running all the time?

Yes, you must have the app running in the background at all times in order for the contact tracing to work and for your own safety. Bluetooth and push notifications should be turned on at all times as well. The app should be kept open at all times, especially while you are not at home or in public.

How do I get my COVID-19 test results via the Al Hosn app?

The results of the tests will be shown on the Alhosn app as soon as the health authorities make them available.

Can I book a COVID-19 test via the Al Hosn app?

Nope, it doesn’t. Alhosn will simply gather your test results for the time being.

I don’t have a smartphone. How can I use the app?

Regrettably, the app is only accessible for smartphones. Wristbands, for example, are being examined as an alternative. In the meanwhile, please follow the government’s social distance and hygiene standards.

Do I need an Emirates ID to use Al Hosn?

Yes. You must currently have a valid Emirates ID number in order to register for the app. Future revisions, on the other hand, may allow for alternatives such as a passport.

I am vaccinated, but it is not showing up on my Al Hosn app. What should I do?

If you have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccination and they do not appear on the app, you can go back to the clinic where you were immunized.

Dr. Hanan Al Suwaidi, who handles immunization and testing at Dubai’s Covid-19 command and control center, raised the subject during a radio appearance.

I would encourage anyone who has any difficulties or problems with their certificates to just reach out to the health authorities or the clinics where they received their vaccines, and we will immediately work on and rectify this issue,” she said.
