In its bid to address the ongoing pandemic, the Abu Dhabi government has revealed that it has slashed down the price of the RT-PCR test from AED 85 to AED 65 (Php 850), the lowest since the pandemic erupted.
The new test price is an 82 percent drop from the standard PCR cost of AED370 when the COVID-19 pandemic started last year, according to the emirate’s health department.

In an announcement reported by the National, the department said, “Please note that the cost of Covid-19 (PCR) test is revised to be Dh65 for the single run including collection and testing of the sample.”
It added, “For cases presenting to healthcare facilities with no symptoms or medical indication, costs for the test will be covered by the individual. All other cases are covered.”
Also, it noted that insurance coverage includes people with COVID-19 related symptoms.
Meanwhile, as recently announced, employees across all private firms in Abu Dhabi are required to undergo mandatory PCR testing for free every two weeks, the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee for the COVID-19 pandemic noted.
The UAE government has also announced that all private-sector employees working in vital sectors and service industries are required to undergo testing.
The said initiative aims to curb the spread of COVID-19 amid the vaccination rollout.
In line with this, the Abu Dhabi DOH invites all eligible members of the population to book vaccination appointments.
Citizens and residents aged 16 and above are now eligible for the government’s vaccination program which can be accessed in at least 100 centers.
